“About five years ago, I had so much trouble with my back I was in bed for over six weeks. More than a year later, after three different physical therapy regimes, I was still on pain killers and unable to do much more than simply get through the day. That was when my doctor’s wife recommended Valli.
18 months after that, I was working out regularly, was more flexible than I had ever been, had lost 30 lbs, and was off all the pain killers. When I started with Valli, I hoped she could help but I never expected such incredible results. Physically, I feel better than I ever have in my life, I have to remind myself that I’m 57.
There are a lot of good things I could say about Valli, but what I think is most impressive is her ability to gear the work out to her client’s individual needs. She uses a variety of exercises and varies them often.
When I had a stress fracture from skiing, she re-worked my routine so I could keep working without using my left foot. When we moved and lost access to a gym, she adapted the work out to our living room. But I think the best example of her focus on her client’s needs is how we started.
In the beginning, I was barely able to get down on the floor, I was scared of re-injuring my back and was pretty out of shape from a year with little or no activity. The first work-outs were almost all about stretching and relaxing … but there was also some work with weights, a few crunches. A year later, I was doing circuit training and I could never figure out exactly when it changed from rehab to a very challenging work-out.
One last thing that doesn’t directly relate to her skills as a trainer … but helps the process. Valli is such an interesting person to talk to about movies, kids, politics, whatever…that the sessions go by very quickly and I’m always looking forward to the next one.”
